Following good reviews online and being the only local place for me to take 2 broken ipods I decided to give Conceptex a try. The prices quoted were a bit above internet prices that I had found and so I told them I would leave it. However, I was asked why I didn't want to let them do the job, I explained, they explained their costs and how they couldn't do it any cheaper, and I decided to leave the ipods with them. This was on a Saturday. I was told they would be ready for the following Tuesday. I asked if Monday was possible, but no, the glue had to set.
I wasn't able to make it to the shop until the Friday following this. Imagine my surprise to find one ipod fixed but the other not. I asked if they had called me. Apparently so - just the once, on the Wednesday. I pointed out that it was not good customer service, especially as they had my mobile number as well as home number, whereupon I was spoken to, in my opinion, rudely. The ipod that was fixed was handed back to me with sticky labels on which I had to ask to be removed - the sort that leave a residue - not impressed.
They did manage to get the 2nd ipod fixed by the end of the day but couldn't check it as we didn't know the password. We took it home but unfortunately we then found that some of the screen didn't work. We took it back on the Saturday morning, were told that the ipod man would be in on the Monday. I have rung this morning - Thursday - to see about the progress as I haven't heard anything - and they now need the password to check it.
It seems curious to me that a company purporting to do complex and intricate repairs (hence the reason why they exist as for most people the job would be too difficult to do) cannot operate a simple telephone system, or repair a faulty one (if indeed that is the case for their phones). I don't mind if there are problems with fixing things. I do mind if there are problems with communication, be it making telephone calls to keep people informed, or being polite to customers.
Personally I won't be using their services again.
And I still don't have the ipod almost 2 weeks after taking it in.   22-11-12
